Aboriginal Early Childhood Educator – Nowra

Permanent Part time (24 hours per week)

Our client provide a range of inclusion programs to all children and young people, including those with a disability aged 0-18 years, and also operates an early childhood education and care service.

Our client is seeking an Aboriginal Early Childhood Educator to provide Aboriginal Cultural programs and activities that can be used by ECEC staff in the classroom.  The position will assist Aboriginal families to access and utilise children’s services in the Shoalhaven and ensure community awareness of the importance of transition to school for Aboriginal children.

The successful applicant will be required to link families with appropriate services in relation to health and education and provide support to early childhood education and care services including Aboriginal Supported Playgroups in the area.

Essential

  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education as a minimum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and negotiate with all stakeholders
  • Ability to coordinate cultural activities to all children attending early childhood centres in the Shoalhaven
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships between Aboriginal parents and family, early childhood services, and the community
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with community based early childhood services to support the needs of Aboriginal children attending the service
  • Ability to provide Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training for early childhood services in the Shoalhaven.

Desirable

  • Computer skills and experience with administrative tasks

Prerequisites

  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Current Cleared Criminal History Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate
